世界的書体デザイナー、マシュー・カーター氏がデザインした欧文書体をボストンの印刷工房Center Street Studioが特別にプリントした作品を展示いたします。
作品はaからzまでの26文字、すべて小文字で、銅版で印刷されています。マスタープリンターのジェームス・ストラウド氏がプリントした52セットの限定作品で、展示会場で特別販売いたします。
マシュー・カーター氏は、金属活字からデジタルフォントの時代まで60年間、文字に関する仕事をしてきた世界的な書体デザイナーです。よく知られている書体に、スクリーンフォントのVerdanaやGeorgiaがあります。彼がデザインした7つの書体は、NYのMoMAのコレクションとして収蔵されています。
今年、ATypI（国際タイポグラフィ協会）のカンファレンスが東京で開催されるのにあわせ、その期間中に上記展示をおこなうことになりました。皆様ふるってご参加ください。
Exhibition: Matthew Carter a–z
Center Street Studio, Boston’s premier printer and publisher of contemporary prints, is pleased to announce an exhibition of work by type designer Matthew Carter in Tokyo, Japan during the international type conference ATypI. The exhibition will include a portfolio of etchings depicting the 26 letters of the alphabet. The letters, all lower case, are Carter’s own favorites from typefaces designed by him in a wide variety of styles, both historically-derived and contemporary. Some are from existing typefaces, some from type designs still in work.
